The Other Side of Her

The optimistic her, if you ask what she fears,
It’s not ghosts, betrayal, or people that bring her tears.
It’s the darkness within, the hopelessness she fought,
The struggle to see the light, the battles she sought.

The optimistic her, once lost in despair,
Now fears the return of the weight she couldn’t bear.
She’ll shut down her emotions, build walls to protect,
For rising from rock bottom was a challenge she’ll never forget.

So don’t mistake her smile for the absence of pain,
For the optimistic her knows the cost of hope regained.
She guards her heart fiercely, keeps her feelings at bay,
For she knows the journey from darkness to light is no easy way.

I wrote this piece during a low point, reflecting on the rock bottom I once hit. Looking back, I realize that hard times have the power to break us, but they also shape us into something stronger. The struggles we face can teach us invaluable lessons—lessons in resilience, kindness, and humility.

Even in the midst of darkness, there’s beauty to be found in life. The journey through difficult times is transformative, molding us into better versions of ourselves. It’s a reminder to approach life with an open heart, to remain humble, and to appreciate the little things that bring light into our world.

Hardships are not the end of the story; they are chapters that give depth and meaning to our lives. Let’s embrace them, knowing that they can bring out the best in us and help us live more fully.

Here’s to the hardships—they challenge us, strengthen us, and remind us of life’s incredible beauty.
